Usuwanie chlorków z betonu – Elektrochemiczna ekstrakcja chlorków

zgodnie z norma PN-EN 1504 zasada 7 metoda 5

Obecność jonów chlorkowych w otoczeniu stali zbrojeniowej prowadzi do uszkodzenia warstewki pasywnej otaczającej pręty zbrojeniowe i rozpoczęcia procesów korozyjnych.

Po wykonaniu zabiegu usuwania chlorków z betonu, elektrochemicznej ekstrakcji chlorków można przystąpić do napraw konstrukcji i wykonania powłok zabezpieczających powierzchnię betonową. Usuwanie chlorków z betonu można wykonywać z konstrukcji płyt i słupów parkingów i garaży , obiektów inżynieryjnych i wszystkich obiektów z których należy usunąć chlorki z betonu.

In case of contamination of structures or reinforced concrete elements, electrochemical chloride extraction can be performed, i.e. removal of chlorides from concrete. Chloride ions present in de-icing agents, in sea water, regardless of concentration, penetrate the structure of the concrete cover in engineering structures, e.g. bridges, viaducts, tunnels, multi-station car parks, marine structures. The rate of chloride ion penetration increases with the concentration of the chloride solution at the concrete surface, concrete permeability, humidity, and the occurrence of cracks in the concrete. The presence of chloride ions in the vicinity of the reinforcing steel leads to the damage of the passive layer surrounding the reinforcing bars and the beginning of corrosion processes. According to the adopted standard criteria, corrosion processes on the surface of steel in concrete begin when the concentration of chloride ions exceeds 0.4% in relation to the mass of cement, or according to the Hausman criterion, when the quotient of the concentration of chloride and hydroxide ions at the surface of steel in concrete is greater than 0.6. In the case of renovation of structures in which concrete is contaminated with chloride ions, repairs performed only using standard methods with the use of repair materials are not effective. Repair mortars commonly used to fill defects in concrete cannot and do not have chlorides in their composition. When the repaired reinforced concrete structure comes into contact with the liquid contained in the pores of the concrete and contains chlorides with the liquid from the pores of the fresh repair mortar without chlorides, then, in accordance with the principle of equalization of solution concentrations, there will be a rapid migration of chlorides to the fresh repair mortar . This will lead to very rapid corrosion in reinforced concrete of the „traditionally repaired” reinforcement. In the case of presence of Cl- chloride ions in concrete, which have an aggressive effect on reinforcing steel, electrochemical extraction of chlorides from concrete/covering or removal of chlorine from concrete can be performed in accordance with PN-EN 1504 rule 7 method 5. By inducing an artificial electric field in the contaminated area, the „movement” of ions will be caused towards the surface, from which aggressive chlorides will be removed, which will result in the restoration of the passivating layer on the steel surface and the recovery of the concrete’s protective properties in relation to the reinforcement.

During the removal of chlorides from concrete, the electrochemical extraction of chlorides from concrete, the negative pole of the DC power supply with a voltage of 12 to 24 Volts and an intensity of up to about 2 A/m2 is connected to the reinforcing steel. The positive pole of the power supply is connected to an electrode, usually titanium, surrounded by cellulose fibers or geotextile saturated with an alkaline solution. After the power is turned on, the initiated electric field between the reinforcement and the electrode causes negatively charged ions (Cl-) to begin to migrate towards the positive electrode. Chloride ions move through the pores in the concrete and precipitate in the electrolyte and oxidize on the surface of the anode grid. During the process of removing chlorides from concrete, electrochemical chloride extraction, we monitor the concentration of chlorides in concrete on an ongoing basis.

On average, the process of removing chlorides from concrete, electrochemical extraction of chlorides from concrete cover, lasts from 3 to 8 weeks.

After the removal of chlorides from concrete, electrochemical extraction of chlorides, you can start repairing the structure and applying coatings protecting the concrete surface. Removal of chlorides from concrete, electrochemical extraction of chlorides in contaminated structures is an effective method of removing chlorides from concrete in the repair of reinforced concrete structures and in prestressed structures. Removal of chlorides from concrete can be performed from the construction of slabs and columns of parking lots and garages, engineering structures and all objects from which chlorides from concrete must be removed.
