Realkalizacja – podnoszenie pH betonu

Realkalizacja skarbonatyzowanego betonu- przywrócenie zasadowego pH, zmiana pH betonu, podnoszenie pH betonu zgodnie z norma PN-EN 1504 zasada 7 metoda 3

W badanych  konstrukcjach w których podczas sprawdzeń karbonatyzacji otuliny betonowej, wyniki wskazują niskie pH, można  poprzez realkalizację odtworzyć wysokie pH , zmianę pH betonu, podwyższenie Ph betonu, co umożliwia odbudowanie na powierzchni stali zbrojeniowej warstwy pasywnej. W przypadku obniżenia pH otuliny betonowej poniżej 11,8 zanika warstwa pasywująca na powierzchni stali zbrojeniowej. W celu odtworzenia wysokiego pH otuliny betonowej, zmiany pH betonu, umożliwiającej wytworzenie na powierzchni stali ponownie warstwy pasywującej działając zgodnie z normą PN-EN 1504 zasada 7.3 możemy przeprowadzić elektrochemiczną realkalizację skarbonatyzowanego betonu – zmianę, podwyższenie  pH otuliny betonowej.

Fot 1. Niskie pH otuliny betonowej – brak warstwy pasywnej otuliny

In the tested structures, in which, during the carbonation checks of the concrete cover, the results indicate low pH, it is possible to recreate high pH by realkalization, change the pH of the concrete, increase the pH of the concrete, which enables the reconstruction of the passive layer on the surface of the reinforcing steel. If the pH of the concrete cover is lowered below 9, the passivating layer on the surface of the reinforcing steel disappears. In order to restore the high pH of the concrete cover, change the pH of the concrete, enabling the formation of a passivating layer on the steel surface again, acting in accordance with the PN-EN 1504 rule 7.3 standard, we can carry out electrochemical realkalization of carbonated concrete – changing, increasing the pH of the concrete cover.

The surface of the carbonated concrete is covered with an alkaline electrolyte (usually sodium carbonate solution (Na2CO3)) in which the electrode is placed. The negative pole of the DC power supply with a voltage of 12 to 24 Volts and an intensity of about 2 A/m2 is connected to the reinforcing steel. The positive pole of the power supply is connected to the electrode. The electrolyte components move through the pore system into the concrete and OH- ions are formed in the vicinity of the reinforcement, which increase the alkalinity to a pH of about 13.

On average, the realkalization treatment of carobanatized concrete, changes in pH, lasts from 3 to 5 weeks.
